MOSQUITO MUSIC

I hate using a net.
I gasp and I get
ill with coil smoke
“mats� make me choke.

Come evening, I run
check and close down
windows and wire nets,
before the sun sets.


I read till I blink
and drowsily sink,
warm up and snuggle in
for sleep’s soft oblivion.

Darkness is as velvet
As only it can get.
Then there’s a whine:
Mossy’s out to dine.

That’s one form of music
That makes me quite sick,
whose notes are malaria,
dengue or filaria.

The pillow’s my weapon.
Where is that hellion?
The chase has begun
“your last song is sung�.

Looking up, closing in
Knocking elbow and shin
On table and bed corner,
Wham! It’s a goner.

I put off the light
And bundle in, tight;
I won the fight.
I’m so very alright!
