A poem on the guile of smiles which lie too often and say not much. A poem to those who are dying of silence, yet would rather die than speak their soul. A poem to the silent souls.
Your smiles are overflowing grief
your tears ebbing joy
I know behind the stark relief
of ruby lips is an ivory ploy
working to promote a belief
that you are happy with your toy:
your life, your endless fief.
The artful cunning you employ
Can't dispell my disbelief.
Dont dissemble; dont
Come, my friend, our tryst is brief
What grief are you hiding behind that smile ___
Those red marble curves belie your ivory
and violate the virginity of your soul
Why bleed behind imprisoned sighs
And play the world in drag?
Let others be the happy fools
content with your smiling grace
Give to me the poisoned cup
Which hides your bitter face
Let me lift the gauze of your skin
And see you in the flesh
Wail your sorrow in my ears
I do not want your laughs.
I ask you with my hands outstretched:
Speak To Me...
What grief are you hiding behind that smile?
Yes, I can see it through your guile
Don't be alarmed
Don't be ashamed
Do not hide your tearing pain
Let me see
I swear I feel
not like touch,
but like the temporal surrounded by the inexorable
I have known the sorrows of your wrinkles
I have lived the aches of your bruises
I have been kicked and slapped,
killed and stabbed,
raped and tortured
by my own blood
What greater guarantee do you require?
Answer me when I enquire
into the truths of your soul.
answer me and let me see
if your words can pour your pain
into the waiting vessels of my ears.
Speak your horror
and let me try to take those visions
away with me
absorbed into my being forever
and never again visible to your ocean eyes.
I can do that, I am sure.
So..., speak to me?
