Doubt Reason

Shahab Riazi July 27, 2003

Tags: doubt

Doubt has the conviction that you so crave

Cherish your strongest doubts for they split asunder,
Like seeds from which spring the roses of belief

Do not condemn these to the dark forgotten corners
As they alone destroy themselves to bring you relief

Doubt spills its last drop of blood as an oblation
At
the footsteps of Reason so she may see

A path that she could tread on while dancing languidly
Swaying her hips for all beings, while deciding, not to be
On a way that could never have been brought forth sans severity

Yet as she aggresses on that “trail”, wearing anklets of blood and tears
She cries, for all regresses to being facile, except her, as she can’t be.

Oh people of faith! Do you happen to know?
Why is reason exalted and doubt scorned

When doubt has the conviction that you so crave
To lay itself down like Ishmael, headed for the grave

This whore named “Reason” who is considered a Goddess today
Was sold for pennies in Courts and even less in its day

Are we to judge this creation and the creator?
On the minutiae of human mind such as reason

For I take doubt with me instead of the vagrant
Intent on keeping it, restoring it every new age and season
This is a work in progress. I will let all of you decide if I should continue to work on this or abandon it for something else. Let me know
