Losing Something In Translation

It’s official; after intense lobbying and approaching people through appropriate channels, the Government of Pakistan has decided to rename repromulgate the National Accountability Ordinance (NABO) and renaming
it to Nawaz And Benazir Only(NABO). The new ordinance was promulgated by President and Chief of Army Staff Pervaiz Musharraf in the early hours of Monday. Other amendments include the mandatory exile of any person named Benazir or Nawaz.

The move has been widely acclaimed by legal genius Sharifuddin Pirzada who also authored the said ordinance.
He said, "This move has been done in the best interests of the country. In the interest of human rights we have also included a special provision ensuring the ordinance will lapse in case of either or both special circumstances that may occur. The first being in case either former Prime Minister’s Party sweeps any election held or the second in case of a successful anti government movement."
Federal Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat has defended the ordinance, "This ordinance which I have personally approved, shows how hard I and my group (of Patriots) have been working towards the dropping of all cases against BB. She does not have to worry about corruption cases filed now that her exile has been institutionalised. We have in fact proven that we are the true PPP".
Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar when contacted confirmed that in exchange for Nawaz Sharif’s exile being institutionalised the government will receive oil on deferred payments and 50,000 Pakistani’s will be recruited for the Saudi Arabia Sewage disposal teams while the British government has promised to increase development aid as well the establishment of new visa sections situated near all main Corp Commanders headquarters.
The Minister added, "The move will bring progress and prosperity to Pakistan."

The ordinance was unanimously condemned by all Parties including the Pakistan Muslim (Q),PML(N),PPP,ANP,MQM and the MMA. All Party Leaders confirmed that there parties would vote against the ordinance when tabled tomorrow in the National Assembly.
The ordinance is expected to easily pass.

In other news, the Interior Ministry has confirmed the registration scheme by NADRA for all pro provincial and Federal government MP’s and MNA’s with life long Presidential Pardon’s under the "get out of jail free card" scheme.

NADRA spokesperson when contacted stated the scheme would benefit all Pakistani’s irrespective of Party affiliation, caste, gender, colour or creed.
Opposition Leader Nawabzada Nasrullah has condemned both move and has called an immediate meeting of all ARD Parties and an All Party Conference. The Nawabzada confirmed that the All Party Conference would not invite at least 12 parties.
footnote
Pakistani English and how it’s put on print for readers is always interesting. The Urdu and regional language influence is the most striking part of it, the ''flowery'' style, and the blandness of the writing in many cases.
