Children’s Poet

Who are you child,

That I should write for you,

Labor and toil over hard-bitten words,

Making them soft for you to wear,

In the cruel winter of this world.

How do you make me do this,

Faithfully weave a web of wonder,

Enchantment, mystery, sound,

For you to remember,

When I am gone.
