Opportunity Missed

When you are able to conjure up the biggest crowd in the history of Islamabad a stone throw away from presidency than you should do more than a routine debating competition, you should throw A proverbial stone! You must take a stroll towards the presidency and you must intimidate the ones that have wronged
us as a nation for decades with there guns and there uniforms. They must get the message loud and clear, that enough is enough. And you must have done a sit in, till that message went across. But nothing of the sort happened, few speeches and that was that. Again the commoner of Pakistan didn’t disappoint the forces of democracy and showed up in an unprecedented manner on there own from as far as Karachi. Unfortunately the leadership of this movement failed to maximize this golden opportunity.

This is kind of sad that almost 4 months after the people of Pakistan gave there verdict against Mush Mush and his cohorts, he still occupies the presidency and nasim ashraf is still screwing with something that this nation holds dear.

I blame that on the some what justified paranoia of Zardari. But it is paranoia nevertheless and he has to rise above it because that’s what leadership is about. What is he worried about anyway? Is it NRO? Can we please for pete’ sake, let him have that NRO? There is no doubt in my mind that he has embezzled money and he is getting a free ride under NRO, but there is so much bigger fish to fry here. Besides let’s not forget that we are talking about Pakistan here people and there are no Omer’s amongst our ruling elite and zardari is no exception, he is the rule.

If the nation of Pakistan can buy democracy, rule of law (going forward), civilian supremacy, justice etc. for 1.5 billion dollars from Mr. Zardari, I say where do we sign up? Please settle this matter of judges and unconstitutional presidency once and for all so we can move on as a nation. We seem to be stuck in time and it is always a sign for bad things to come. The nation is desperate for some relief, some positive gestures from PPP, this is no time for complacency and expediency.

I really do want to give the benefit of doubt to PPP. But they are making it impossible. How in the world will they get this mammoth constitutional package thru in both houses, which in reality is a new constitution all together? We are talking about debate and discussions that can go on for months, maybe even a year! Do they really expect the people of Pakistan to remain on hold for a year? Are they insane?

Something that can be done in 3 seconds would eventually be NOT done after discussions of a year if they went on this excursion of constitutional amendment. Simply because they don’t have the numbers! What they do have the numbers for however is impeachment, but according to them the ‘Time is not right’. What the hell does that mean? Who are they kidding? Do they not realize that a clear majority of the people of Pakistan would like to see CJ restored and musharaf impeached RIGHT AWAY? And let’s not get carried away here either. No one should be talking about hanging musharaf, least of all people who are only pissed at him because he didn’t extended there juicy chairmanship at Public service commission.

Why do we always have to kill people that we have a difference of opinion with? Yes he has broken the law, but than again, who hasn’t? Besides before we prepare the rope for musharaf, we must first trial all the generals, brigadiers, colonels etc. who choose to follow, and not only follow but still justifies the illegal rape of the constitution of Pakistan. Let’s start with Gen. chishti, the brains behind ‘ex-servicemen society’ who for some ironic reason are pretending to be the new champions of democracy, never mind the fact that these are the same jokers that have gleefully benefited the most in every sense of the word during martial laws. They give a new meaning to the phrase ‘900 chohay khaakay, billi challi haj par’. How about a public apology for starters, and after that stay humble and shut up about democracy because you have no credibility whatsoever.

Whether you like CJ or not, I know he bought toiletries from public funds and he should be hanged for that, and I also know that musharaf and Malik Qayyum are sweet lil kakas made out of honey and wafers, but the fact remains that this same CJ was acceptable and kosher till he towed the line of establishment. But as soon as through some epiphany or whatever he hinted of growing a conscience, all hell broke loose. Did Babar Awan and Latif Khosa not know what a ‘horrible man’ this Chaudhry was about a year ago when they were all googoo gaga over him? What has changed in a year, other than the obvious?

Muslim League N couldn’t have wished for a better political arrangement! The nation is going to hell in a hand-basket but not because of them so they look pretty nevertheless. However, if PPP fails than rest assured that things will spiral out of control so badly that Muslim League N wouldn’t be able to cash in politically. There will be a ‘mayray aziz hamwatnoon…’ and this rhetoric that ‘Army can’t intervene anymore’ is hogwash. Lest we forget November 3rd happened in 2007 not 1807. It can happen again because Army is still ‘cool’ like that. ‘Chut tii nahii hay moonh koo yeah kafir laggi hoi’.
