unsheathed the sword
cried havoc
and let slip
the dogs of war
death
land of blood
murder
the Grand Victory
an end to his
decade of wars

like gods
like titans
victorious
and then one day
as he went to a lake
so clear
and transparent
reflective
a view he had never
had before
he stood ashore
looked in, and
saw his reflection
a body of flesh and meat
a mere six feet up the ground
so ungodly

he fell down
broken
