Preface: This is a piece of historical fiction based on known historical facts and true historical characters. Only the protagonist is a product of my imagination as the real person who occupied his shoes remains unknown to history. This piece was inspired by all the talk about the Islamic lunar calendar which has been going on here. My purpose here is to express the view that all methods of dividing time are creations of tradition. Nature is value neutral and there is nothing divine about any of the systems.
