A day long conference on "Pakistan Economic and Social Development" will be held at the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge MA, USA, on Saturday March 07 1998.
Chowk will host the event live at the Chowk Chatroom, starting from 9:30am EST (6:30am Pacific Time) on Saturday March 07. Chowk Associate covering the event at MIT will be logged on live at the Chatroom throughout the event. The Pakistan Economic & Social Development Conference will be held at the
MIT Sloan School of Management on Saturday, March 7, 1998. The day-long
conference, featuring the theme "Integrating Pakistan Into the New Global
Economy", will be addressed by nearly 20 speakers from business, academia,
government, and non-governmental organizations. Panel discussion sessions
on Social Development, Economic Issues, and Political Environment will be
complemented by a screening of the recent documentary "Mr. Jinnah: The
Making of Pakistan" as well as a keynote address by Mr. Shaukat Aziz,
Executive Vice President of Citibank. The event has been organized by
Pakistani students at several Boston-area colleges and is primarily
sponsored by Citibank, the Government of Pakistan, and MIT. Conference
organizers have defined broad goals of:
Providing a forum to discuss the various political, economic, and social
issues affecting Pakistan
Providing realistic evaluations and recommendations for policy makers
and institutions
Fostering positive and innovative initiatives for the improvement of
Pakistan's situation
The conference is expected to attract an audience of nearly 300 university
students and young professionals. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.
