One of the oldest bookstores in Karachi, and indeed in all of Pakistan, The Pak-American Bookstore has recently been shutdown. The bookstore was a favorite destination of the locals in bustling Saddar, the heart of the city's trade and commerce.


The Pak-American Bookstore will be replaced by a branch of Kentucky Fried Chicken, which has experienced astronomical growth and popularity in Pakistan since its launch a few years ago.

Chowk extends its heartiest felicitations to all Pakistani food lovers and all franchise entrepreneurs at this delicious development. We also congratulate all patrons of this and other bookstores in Karachi for taking very little note of this event.
