AsSalam Maryam,
Your art is exceptionally great. Congratulations.
Ashraf Gohar Goreja
I was not referring to art being right or wrong, I was talking about its marketability (not necessarily in monetary terms). It is ’the tree that falls when no when is around......." kinda thing. It is psychology Dr. Watson. But as long as you are happy.....have it your way.
Okay accepted that it is scanning and uploading that causes the loss of color, but you have committed the cardinal sin by not showing the eyes in the old man’s picture. Eyes are windows to the soul. Never ever paint a portrait without showing eyes; show them even if they are not pointed at the viewer.
According a research conducted by a british university in the London’s art gallery, where they attached special tracking devices with the people’s pupils, it became evident that human beings as viewers get most of their information from the eyes, dilation or contraction of pupil, and that the movement of eyelids of the subject. The second thing they notice is the hands and their posture. So if you want to give depth and allure the viewers attention, pay attention to these two things.

Excellent work Maryam.
The Pintails Ducks has a lot of movement, alot of commotion which makes it so alive and real. On theh other hand, Spring is actually giving the impression of silence and serenity, of freshness. Thats what makes a painting good... it shoudl be able to convey its essence.
Old Man does seem restless as you said in one of your replies. He is not relaxed, an dI thnk you have been able to capture that emotion and that expression on his face.
Congratulations and best wishes.

Hello Maryem,
I really like the ’old man’ cos of the details: mottled skin, sunken cheeks, big ears, a fleshy bulbous nose, wrinkles on the forehead (and the highlights on the wrinkles to thicken them a little are an excellent touch) and I can see impressions of the eyes sunk into their sockets as well as the thinning of the upper lip. Nice one! Yes, he’s definitely an old man.
Umer M.
PS. Was the ’old man’ from a photograph or was he a real model? And was this a part of your work or did you just feel like doing it? Thank you again.

B-E-A-utiful!!!
Good work Maryam! As far as the eyes are concerned, leave’em to the eye specialist... he can take care of them.. :) Its good to have some things expressed and the others un-expressed. So no worries about that. Excellent work!

Beautiful, especially the Pintail Ducks. It almost came alive when I looked at the full view. The detailing of the birds movements, the blending of shades of blue in the sky... very very nice.
I feel that the Old man still lacks something. Maybe its the expression... or maybe you just wanted it to be like that. You’re the artist, you know better. :-)
Please do tell what medium you have used in Spring. Is it solely oil or mixed?

Good stuff, Maryam. Love the richness of colour and composition!
re. #3: "I agree. No one can judge art. There is no good art or bad art"
That’s silly! Of course we can judge art and term it good or bad. That’s the point of having it exhibited! The fact that there may (MAY!) exist no OBJECTIVE means of measuring the worth of an artwork doesn’t affect our ability-- our psychological NEED-- to judge art for ourselves.
rgds,

Maryam. I agree. No one can judge art. There is no good art or bad art. Actually I go even further, saying that art can not be bought or sold. Its art. its not a profession because in any profession we have to cater to some "external" pressure. In Art we dont.
Keep it up!

Art is not meant to be a copy of nature . Its what you percieve from nature and reflect in your own way.
Influenced by our experiences and perception, its our own expression .... And the way a viewer look at the art , thats influenced by his her own experience and perception. So we cant say anything is right or wrong . :)
