On blue eyes and blondes . . . had a friend, he was from a coastal part of India populated otherwise by short/dark and strongly built seafarers, including his family . . . but our man was over 6 feet tall, sharp nosed, blue eyed with porcelain fair skin and platinum hair . . . we see a similar strain in the Meo areas outside Delhi / / /

oops!...i skipped over the other photographs...
to complete my comments:
4:…shutter pressed accidentally?…no!…this one is good if put in perspective…thar and all...
5: slightly out of focus…manageable shadows
6: wild peacock?…if he says so…or am going blind
7: the vastness of the desert negated by that cropped head and the posteriors of other dromedary
8: “look he is not using reflectors’ the one on the left is saying.
9: the head in the center…now i get it…a quick shoot with a telephoto
10: good photograph..bad heading…there were no bedfords in 1944…
11: another good one…slightly oput of focus…could be intentional
12: look at the camel’s feet…I would have taken this from another angel…what with the wide expanse of the sky, blending it with that of the desert and cutting out the child and the other camel
13: focus…and composing…space wasted on left
14: focusing
…(just read your ilog binoo:))…therefore my apologies to the good eye doctor…if you can convey my wishes for the good work he is doing there with the bhugris…and I must say thanks for bringing these photographs…

since a friend questioned:)
my comments were based on the compositon of these pictures as presented here...
1: shadows could be softened...with reflectors or indirect flash...space wasted in the right 1/8th
2: this one is well framed...best of the three
3: this is neither 3/4 nor full....notice the feet of the camel

I think that these photographs are superb. I would be really interested to find out more about the genealogy of these blue eyed blonde haired desert dwellers. If there is anyone out there who knows, please post the information here. It is really nice to see a side of Pakistan that I have never had a glimpse of before, ie: the lives of some of the Hindus of Pakistan. Sindh looks like a really beautiful and fascinating place. I wish that Pakistanis would do more to show ignorant Indians like me the full diversity and complexity of their country. Thanks Bina.

great pictures. they provide a glimpse into the life of people so far away, yet so close to one’s roots.
ally:
yes, i see similarities in clothes, features as well with those of people in rajasthan. time and again, we’re reminded that we are one people - yes two nations, but one people.

It is said that the gypsies all around the globe have common ancestor tribe that originated in Thar area. At least straw colored hair and common complexion across the globe attests to that.

nice pics,
Do they speak Sindhi or another language? do the different religious groups (Bhagri’s, Hindu’s and Muslims) live together in peace?
The girls with bangles look similar to Rajasthani girls wearing white bangles, is their any relationship?
