THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO A FRIEND WHO GOT SO FLARD UP BY AN EMAIL JOKE ABOUT MEMONS THAT SHE CALLED ALL MUSLIMS, KAFIRS...NOT TO MENTION THAT HER KNOWLEDGE OF THE RELIGION IS PRECARIOUSLY SLIGHT!
(I HAVE PASTED THE QUOTATION SHE CHOSE TO BACK UP HER OPINION)
Personal freedom and majority rule are not the fundamental values on which secular culture is based. That is because freedom entails choice, but it is not the criterion for that choice. Whoever is given the freedom to choose needs a standard that he can use as the criterion for his choice. Likewise, majority opinion is not itself the standard; it is merely the result of many individual choices made on the basis of some standard. So what is the basis for the choices of a free individual and a free society in the secular system? It is those whims and desires which have taken the place of the real Deity."
(Dr. Jafar Idris)
My dear friend,
You have finally given the perfect words for the case that has been overzealously judged and unfairly rejected over the past fourteen hundred years. It pleases me greatly when you jump to the aid of a racial class with a provocation as innocent and slight as a joke circulated by the email. But it really amuses me when you have not only no knowledge of the concept of wit and humor, but also none at all about your own religious beliefs. (I have not even bothered to mention religious and historical facts because I know that the totality of your reading is based on children’s fairy tales and the Arabian Nights… It is truly astonishing that a person so poorly read in the books of his own faction is so amazingly eloquent about the beliefs and actions of others. At least I would advice you to read a little of your religious beliefs before you deem yourself fit to advice and guide others. (Besides the fact that you need to let out some air and breathe...)
o You believe that the majority opinion is Ijtamah and that is allowed because of “Personal freedom and majority rule”. (Please humor me by saying that you have no issue with the choice of the caliphate by the majority when the prophet died.... man, at least have a stance on something....even my dog can make up his mind better!)
o As far as choice is concerned, it is a very ancient joke… all brainless Bedouins thought that Mohammad (Sallal Allahu Alehe Wa Alehi Wasallam) was a common man like them. They called him a Poet and a Madman. And then came the Muslims and then again, some called him a common man and a madman (check out books of history before you open your mouth about this)
Q.1 So does this sound like a pehchaan of the Munafiqoon who went back to Kufr (about turn)....seems so to me!
Q.2 If the prophet (SAW) is a common man and cannot nominate a Caliph after him (as he did in Khumme Ghadeer by holding Ali’s (AS) hand after Hijjat ul Widah, (not that you know, because you have not read anything besides story books) then how are the Caliphs right in making themselves kings???
(Please don’t answer that they were special, because we just decided that Huzoor (SAW) was not, so by that rule everyone is equal ... Right?)
o “those whims and desires which have taken the place of the real Deity." Now you have outdone me. I could not have expressed it better! THAT is what happened fourteen hundred years ago. A few men did what millions do today. They doubted God and his messenger, bargained with the devil and decided they knew better than God himself. I will not attempt to guide you because my God told my Prophet (SAW) that “ Wama Allaina Illal Balagh” and I am a humble slave of God, His prophet (SAW), his Ahle Bait e Ithaar (AS) and I have too much to learn further and a very short lifetime in which to do so. But I will beg you to at least study something before you die! I have heard that a man who knows not he knows not is a fool, condemn him. If you think you do not know, then my message is for you. But if you think that you know all...all I know is that you know nothing...forgive my senility in even attempting to steer you to the Rah e Mustakeem. Please delete my message and I will consider my .two cents deposited in my amaal nama. Ajre Kum Allah!
P.S: I truly agree with your quotation, your beliefs don’t...change one or the other
PPS: How can an ignorant and illiterate stand on the podium to guide others about something he knows naught of?
PPPS: I will never know if it is a sign of plain obstinacy and shamelessness or raw courage!!
