Response to Atif

Posted: Mar 9, 2005 Wed 04:49 pm     Views: 195

While I dont consider ilogs to be appropriate for discussion (the front page and unplugged serve that purpose much better), since Atif addressed part of his ilog entry to me, I am providing my response here. This is a copy (with edits for one minor typo) of what I wrote in unplugged in the board started by temporal titled "Atif’s ilog".

atif: Thanks for the apology which I accept, and also thanks for extending the hand of friendship which I assume is extended in full sincerity and therefore also accept.

We can of course have differences in viewpoints on serious real life issues, and we can discuss them in a honest and respectful manner. In that spirit, let me note that those are of course not the views on Iraq that I had put down in my article prior to the invasion. While you have a good sense of humor and can be genuinely funny, I dont think one should extend that humor (as you have done in the part of your ilog addressed to me) to matters involving people’s deaths. These matters deserve a more solemn discussion.

That said, thanks again for taking the time to mend fences.
