Some non-political statements from Musharraf

Posted: Apr 2, 2005 Sat 07:01 pm     Views: 49

Here are some very non-political statements from Musharraf’s historical speech at Command & Staff College, Quetta.

I’m copying & pasting some excrepts of the report. Observers will instantly recognize how non-political all these statements are and how all of these statements have everything to do with the art of soldiery & nothing to do with politics:

Army not involved in politics: Musharraf

Says he only maintains check, provides guidance;
praises Shaukat ‘for running country very well’

By Muhammad Ejaz Khan

"Economically, the president said Pakistan was doing well as reflected by all macro indicators in determining stability. He said nothing will work for prosperity of the people, poverty alleviation and social sector development unless macro-economy is on a stable footing and that has been done. "For the first time in our history, we have reduced our debt. It has always been on the rise, especially so in the 1990s when each year it was rising $1.5-2 billion"."

"The president said they also reduced tax as a result of which the debt service liability, which used to be above $4-5 billion per year, was now only $2 billion per year. "

"Musharraf further said, "We have very strong relations with US and that is the direction that we have taken. He added that Pakistan was developing better relations with India. Today internationally, we have excellent diplomatic political relations with all countries, he asserted."

"Musharraf analysed the current geo-political environment and explained how Pakistan and its armed forces were facing related challenges."

Also.. here are some real non-political statements from Musharraf while addressing Baluchistan Cabinet:

"He assured the cabinet that genuine demands of the province would be met including increase in gas royalty, payment of dues in this head and increase in the share of the province in NFC award. He said he wanted to grant maximum share to all the provinces in the NFC award, saying the development of Balochistan was a mission for him that would be completed at all costs."

"The president said there is no truth in the (rape case) of a lady doctor in Sui, rather "it was propagated intentionally in an attempt to create law and order problem in the area"."

"Expressing his satisfaction over the performance of Balochistan Government, Musharraf remarked that the situation was normal and the performance of the provincial government satisfactory."

"He urged the members of the cabinet to fully support Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf. He assured his own and the Federal Government’s wholehearted cooperation to the Jam-led provincial government."

"Announcing the steps to be taken for the uplift of the province, the president said unemployment would be addressed and the quota of the province in federal jobs would be increased and implemented as well as employing local youth in development projects of the province. He said locals would also be recruited against posts being created in the Frontier Corps (FC)."

"Musharraf said he would be travelling to India on April 16 to hold talks with the Indian leadership on all issues including Kashmir."

"He said, "We want to solve all the disputed issues through dialogue between the two countries. On top is the Kashmir issue that must be solved according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people."

"He said war is not a solution to any issue and negotiations are the only way to solve problems."
