I must add that i dont believe all ideologies are the same, islam has a dominant discourse that is more extreme due to the nature of the circumstances and environment that the religion took birth in. but this discourse is even more extreme in Judaism, it is only because they believed in the neccessity of a racial purity to be judaic, that they were small in numbers and that they lost political power that they were unable to indulge in their violent side until recently.
Infact when one compares the Christianity of ancient and medievel times or even that of the 19th century with today we can not believe they are the same religions. thus there is hope still for the extremists within islam.
The violence was necessary component for all religions, including pantheistic ones like hinduism and the greek and roman pagan religions because that insecure world neccessitated violence as a means for survival.
