A feel of the abyss

Encountered two muslim punjabis whose familes hailed from East Punjab. One, an office errand man, is a ferozpuri Jatt farmer settled in Sahiwal. On prodding revealed the toll partition had taken on his family.

Ferozpur under the provisional plan drawn by the British was widely assumed to lie in Pakistan, so much so that on 14th august some people had raised the Pakistani flag. The descent into madnes was quick once the redrawn lines by radcliff were revealed. Our friend who never tires talking about his fields says that a married female relative (with children) was abducted by a sikh who kept her for 7 odd years in which she bore him 4 children before she was restituted to her old husband. Lucky for her that he accepted her and then proceeded to sire a few more kids.

Another female had her breasts amputated. Kids, women and the old were also murdered.

He claims to be a ghikk Jatt, Ghikk being their ancestore who converted to Islam. Says that Ranjit Singh belonged to the same biradri.

The other Mussalman Punjabi is a security guard, his family was settled in Patiala, where the attack seems to be a bit of a surprise because a couple of his paternal aunts were carried away and some male relatives too lost their lives in the massacre.
