The possibility that I am creating for myself this week is the possibility of being super-compassionate. I have come to realize that human beings all over this planet are having difficult lives. Even Bush has started drinking again. So my response is to go above and beyond the call of duty, in every aspect of my life, I will display compassion and dig deep and find the empathy. I have a student and he is somewhat challenging. This week I decided that I will deal with him by being empathetic and when I did that a whole new world opened up for me. I started to see myself as someone who could learn from my students. They are going through this feeling called "I don’t know and not only that I will probably never know" So how does one take them from such a place to it is possible to learn. My answer first put yourself in their position. Try to learn something that you simply do not understand nor do you think you ever will, feel that fear and frustration. Then only are you justified to say that you have empathy. Behind that fear and frustration is the courage to keep going because your commitment is to go beyond the fear.
