- Questions about saddam
I came across a certain view point in one of the ilogs recently and against my better judgement decided to put some form of a reply to it, which is more or less wasted on the US desi bourgeosie who inhabit these pages. Here goes nothing though!
The world of Muslims is very strange, insensitive and hypocritical.
a) Saddam is playing his theatricals in the Iraqi courts and the world is watching and listening. I have not come across a single Muslim country’s take on Saddam’s attrocities. There was a lot of hoopla when Americans landed in Iraq. There is still fire when an American bomb blows up due to poor judgment. How come there is never any hoopla when muslims are victims of mass murders and mass burials in Karbala and other parts of Iraq? Why is that not frowned upon? Why don’t the Muslim countries create havoc on the said issue? Why don’t the muslim clerics and leaders raise awareness on the crimes against humanity by their fellow muslims? Is that acceptable? tolerable? Or probably, the hypocrites know that they are all in the same boat.
This is certainly a loaded (literally) question aimed at the muslim world, and boy we have a few of these blowing up in and around us. Question Number 1 - Where were the muslims (we become a single united race suddenly) when saddam was wreaking havoc upon his minorities. Well, we were all lead by leaders who had a stake to stay quiet in favor of saddam and guess whose behest we were doing it, well most importantly the US. When a four star US general was interviewed merely 2 weeks after the halabja massacre by saddam where he was visiting the iranian occupied territory and congratulating the iraqis in their acheivements in the iran-iraq war and was confronted about the halabja atrocity, he starkly pointed out that this event had no strategic importance at the time.(boy it was and is strategically important now to keep going on about the halabja massacre to justify this invasion today right).
And to also to point out, the only people who raised any voice or concerns over this at the time it actually happened were the Iranians who were isolated and the Leftist Media in the world. The video files from the western correspondents who covered that atrocity at the time was not aired due to the strategic support for saddam by the west. The Arabs sheikdooms would never dare raise any voices over it then or now as they are the most corrupt and self absorbed form of govt found anywhere in the world. As for the rest of the muslim nations we were too engrossed in the shia versus sunni debate at the time and also that "other" war funded by the US through CIA and Paki army running in afghanistan.
So the point is, the entire world was hypocritical with saddam as long as he obeyed washington and when his egomaniacal acrobats got out of hand, he was than finally discovered to be the tyrant he was for over 30 years when he was Rumsfield’s and Bush’s Brown eyed Arab boy in the middle east.
Today, saddam is a man who should be destroyed and forgotten yet he is made a spectacle to show the bible belt that democracy works in iraq, what a farce.
But the most cruelest and rather sad comment was as follows "There is still fire when an American bomb blows up due to poor judgment." hahahahhahaha, i shouldnt laugh as this "poor judgement" means iraqi lives but the tenacity is just astonishing.
Offcourse that other "slight" problem of cotinued insurgence costing hundreds of iraqi lives by the suicide bombings is another attrocious consequent of this war. In country that lives on the knife edge of a civil war, lets hope to god that the shias and the sunnis can form some form of partnership to kick the gringos out their nation, but this is not as easy as it sounds and Iraq is yet to face the real consequences of this western crusade.
