I’ve been on a cooking kick for the past few days. It started with the spaghetti alla carbonara and its gone on to the fried chicken and I think its going to only stop at either the fudge or the apple bread pudding. Hello calories, come live in my butt. I can always use the extra pounds… not! I really gotta stop watching the food network. Its going straight to my hips.

I once told a friend of mine that food was probably the one thing that would keep me from committing suicide. It was one of those stupid things I say sometimes – completely facile and tossed over my shoulder because it fills up the silence but in a way I meant it. There is something so comforting about food – not in the I-eat-to-forget-my-troubles-and-oh-my-god-I’m-a-fricki n-bulimic way but in the sense that it’s impossible to be depressed when you’re chowing down on something you love. Like the spaghetti alla carbonara. It came out pretty good, even if I do say so myself and it soothes the inner beast in me. The beast that wants to kill people.

What’s that? You didn’t know about my inner beast? Yeah well, good things come in small doses. And this good thing has some scary doses. Mwahahahaha!

Sorry. I’ve been hanging out with some weirdos lately. You can catch them at desibukbuk.com.

I notice Eid has come and gone. So Eid mubarak to all of you. And if you’re offended by that then you’re a dope!

Has anyone else noticed that you can’t use the f word now in ilogs either? I wonder why? The ilog was always the place where you could pepper your speech with four letter words and as far as I know they would leave it in as long as it wasn’t directed at someone else. And what about people like Sam who paste other people’s articles? What if an article from some other site has a word that’s verboten on chowk? I guess they’ll have to work a little. Hehehe.

I was trying to be all smart and download a non-torrent version of 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth [coz if you’ve ever tried to download a torrent file then you know how long it takes, grrrr] and I thought I’d hit jackpot when I saw something on limewire that looked like it. It took three hours but I finally got the file and I was so excited, I couldn’t wait.

Even before I finished downloading it, I clicked preview to see what I’d got [in case you didn’t know the 1995 version is a miniseries, so I wondered if I’d only got a few episodes or something] and the first that hit my ears was some old lady singing “Jo Bole So Nihaal”.

WTF??!!

I bit my nail and waited to see what lay in store for me and …. I’d just spent three hours downloading Bride and Prejudice.

Somebody kill me. Please.
