The times that we live in

Posted: May 7, 2006 Sun 11:42 am     Views: 137

It was exactly 2 years ago that a private in US army named Jessica Lynch arrived back in US, after she was rescued from an Iraqi hospital during invasion. Several newspapers ran gushing articles about how this 100 lb girl went down fighting when her convoy came under iraqi attack. There was a rambo-esque feel about the story. According to "Senior US officials" (these un-named officials seem to pop up everywhere feeding government propaganda to mainstream media), she took several gunshots on her body, but she kept firing from her gun until she ran out of ammunition. She allegedly killed or injured several iraqi soldiers closing in on her. Once out of ammo, she supposedly took out her knife and fought hand to hand until she was stabbed and captured. The average american public was awestruck with this female rambo. For her bravery, Jessica was honored with the 4th highest combat medal, along with several book and movie deals.

Today, as we all know, everything about the above story was a lie. What really happened was that Jessica was knocked unconscious as soon as her humvee hit another US army vehicle. She never saw any combat or fired any shot. She became the first person in the history of US armed forces to have won the 4th highest combat medal for having slept through the combat.
