Different people may have differnet reasons for surfing the net and chowk. I look for inputs, ideas and predispositions on issues. Once a while I get to read light articles like the narrations of Nazar or a satire as good as any written by Wajahat. For amusement, surfing the UP is a side show that can get very ugly.
Surfing is all about speed reading, as unlike a book which one finds time to read, net does not provide the same decor and method. Philosophical essays in the mould of Ashfaq Ahmad and even Farzana are out of place in this speed reading rush. Sometimes, it becomes too difficult to follow considering that there are many windows to attend to, and that one chances on the net in between busy hours.
