Hope & Sadness

Posted: May 16, 2006 Tue 02:47 pm     Views: 89

I recently attended the enthralling event hosted by london’s mayor ken livingston in the honour of the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. Chavez is such an enigmatic person and oozed with confidence that comes from a belief in the direction he has taken and his absolute resolution to bring together the world that is not represented by western imperialism.

It was a honour to attend the event and hear the man speak about his latin experiance of fighting the US first hand and facing the continued conspiracies that is lashed at him and his country by the US Govt. It was also a evening filled with hope, that this world is not all forsaken yet and that from the latin west emerges this great picture of hope and resilience in the shape of Venzuela & Bolivia.

It also invokes a certain sadness in being a pakistani and so destitutely lead by men who have no national aspirations aparts from personal gains and following there paymasters from the west.
