Communal/sectarian/terrorism problems are mere manifestations of a deeper malaise that afflicts all primitive societies - namely, they still live in the "Tribal Age", with its Us vs. Them mindset in a competition for scarce resources. Thus, there is a need in such a mindset to create an enemy even if there is no reason for it.
The most progressive parts of the world have already gone beyond the "Tribal Age", and replaced the concept of "competition" for scarce resources to one of "cooperation" for harnessing the unlimited resources of the universe.
