its a free world. pope can say whatever the falooda he wants without giving a rats ass about hurting the feelings of muslims. nor should muslims be afraid of criticism. if islam is the great mazhub as its proponents claim, critical remarks made by people not connected to islam will not do any harm to islam’s greatness. this however does not mean that false comments made people in authority should not be countered. pope’s comments are clearly false because:
i. over the last 100 years, areas controlled by muslims have seen far less violence than other parts of the world. christian world went through two world wars, russia went through stalin purges and cheenas went through cultural revolution.
ii. islam spread in south-east asia without a single battle fought by muslim armies.
iii. in areas where islam spread on the back of army invasion, muslims did not revert back to previous religion.
see how easy it is to counter bigotry with a bit of smarts? perhaps i should be appointed the pope of islamic world.
