24 hours later I am still in shock after watching ’Borat’ at the movies. It’s one of the most eye-wateringly hilarious movies I have seen in years, and I actually experienced the out-of-world sensation of wildly laughing uncontrollably for a good few minutes (that experience is on a par with the best sex you can ever have - but that’s just my opinion...LOL).
Those of you who are familiar with the Ali G series will already have a more than passing familiarity with Borat, a character from the glorious Republic of Kazakhstan. The depiction of Kazakh society gave me an impression of a cross between Albania, rural Pakistan and hell on earth where even cockroaches have more rights than women.
Borat’s travels across America (to determine why the US is the greatest nation on earth as well as to marry the busty Pamela Anderson) reveals a litany of ingrained racist, sexist and homophobic attitudes that permeate all levels of American society. Enjoy !
