Does life give you a second chance - Maybe

Posted: Dec 1, 2006 Fri 03:04 am     Views: 52

I suddenly seem to have time to do many things. Well, this is not due to the miracle of better time management, but due to a simple incident that has changed my life for the next 1 month.

2 nights back Mrs. Devkant discovered that it had beeen a long time since she saw her mother and she decided to make a visit to her with little Ms. Devkant. So as ordered, I got the plane tickets booked to Rajasthan for the two of them and a train ticket for little Ms. Devkant’s nanny.

After bidding both, Mrs. D and little Ms. D farewell and bon voyage, along with the regular advice given to me like ’take care of your self’, ’eat well’, ’don’t drink and party too much’, etc etc, I came back home with a feeling of emptiness.

Switching on the TV, I find Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has been convicted in a murder case almost 18 years old. Now I wonder which Sidhuism will Mr. Sidhu use to describe his condition.

Though I had a bath and sat down to work, the feeling of emptiness somehow never left me. Mrs. D had gone many times away from me, but it was the first time that little Ms. D had left me and I guess it was the sadness of seeing her go away from me that was fueling my emptiness.

However, this time alone for me is very important, since being at the crossroads of my life (approaching 30, that age which always happened to others, but not me), I need to make certain important decisions that may change the course of my life. For that I needed solitude which was possible only when Mrs. D and little Ms. D were not around.

Having quit my job overseas, I decided to cash in on the many opportunities available in India today. But all opportunities come with an expiry date and hence one needs to be careful to select something that will last for many years.

So let me see where life takes me. Till now life has been indifferent to me. If life has not been very kind, it has not been very cruel to me also. It has given me very little to complaint, but has also given me lot of hopes and dreams to keep living on.

And after Sourav Ganguly was picked up in the Indian side, my faith in life has been reaffirmed. If life can give him a second chance, then I am sure something should be in store for me too. I just have to go out there and find it. But where to start searching.....thats the big question which will determine the course of my life.

Rgds,

Devkant.
