Lazy Days

Posted: Dec 4, 2006 Mon 04:08 am     Views: 58

The weekend came and went and I am back in office on Monday morning wondering how quick the last 2 days went. Getting up early on Monday mornings is the most horrible thing I can be made to do.

The weekend was well spent catching up on friends and checking out some of my old college hangouts in Bombay like Leopold, Mondies (Cafe Mondegar) and Tavern. These places, Tavern specially, play some of the best music in town. And more interestingly me and my friends generally meet up with strangers at these places over drinks. Its nice to meet unknowns and know their views on things in general.

After heavy rounds of drinking, I went to my new favourite eating joint called Jaffar Bhai’s behind Metro Cinema at around 12.00 midnight. This guy serves some of the best North Indian food in Bombay and that too reasonably priced.

Sunday was spent lazing around. After talking to Mrs. D and little Ms. D (thanx to the wonders of cheaper STD phone calls), I decided to watch the Ind-SA final one dayer with the hope that our great team will be able to salvage some pride. But alas, the less said the better about their performance.

On Sunday, new channels were busy reporting about clashes in 3 places in Punjab between political parties over some issues. I just fail to understand that don’t these political party idiots have anything better to do on Sundays. Why can’t they enjoy the great products made by our Mr. Vijay Mallya of Kingfisher on Sunday afternoons instead of killing each other. The bosses of these political parties dare not waste their Sundays. Most of these idiot bosses will be found in their home playing with their kids and grand kids while their supporters slug it out in the sun and risk their life.

And worst of all is the police that remains a mute spectator when these clashes go on. Except for some flashes of brilliance, I find the Indian police force by far the worst police force I have come across. The police are corrupt, rude and absolutely lazy when it comes to their duty. I sincerely hope that the home ministry presses for the pending police reforms so that our police is free from the clutches of the political ruling class.

But sometimes I feel that I live in a fool’s paradise. If our political class had the will, they would have freed the police from the political clutches long back. But if the police performs their duty properly, most political parties will loose their clout over the public.

I guess its too much to think on a Sunday afternoon over a Kingfisher!!!!

Rgds,

Devkant.
