Role Models

Posted: Oct 2, 2007 Tue 11:44 am     Views: 308    Interacts: 0

Its hard to find role models for young Pakistani or Muslims. If one tries to look around in our society, no one stands out that you want you offsprings to take after.

A friend of mine recently commented that
"Muslims have only two role models now: Osama Bin Laden and Emran Hashmi (kissing god of bollywood)" So true.

Once when I was a young banker, I looked upto Agha Hassan Abedi and then BCCI collapsed.

We have Shortcut Aziz. Well no one wants role models to be fauji boot lickers and someone who tries to flirt with Condi Rice. Come on Shortcut, you could do better than that.

I admire Aitzaz Ahsan but as ex Chief Justice Nasim had said, only those people go for law in Pakistan, who can't get admitted anywhere else. [This remark should not be read to degrade the heroic and principled struggle of black coats].

This leaves Army and Musharraf. I am all for that. Where else would you get access to unaccounted for slush funds, lavish property upon retirement, a chance to carry out a coup and be President for life.
