If hinduism is a cultural thing then....

Posted: Oct 4, 2007 Thu 03:59 pm     Views: 440    Interacts: 4

I felt that this needs a thread of its own...

So my learned friends have argued that Hinduism is an extremely flexible philosophy for life.

It has rituals that you may or may not follow.

It leaves it completely up to you as to which god you pray to

It is a cultural expression and a way of life and not a prescribed religion, in the sense that monotheistic religions are.

So my question is....

Why would hinduism or hindus have a problem with one of thier bretheren choosing to pray to a particular God, and choosing to pray only to that God?

I think Hinduism is a good religion (except caste system; which they claim is not in Hinduism). I have friends who happened to be Hindu, they are good guys. According to one of my friends Hinduism has only one God but he came in many incarnations to world but It doesn't mean there are multiple God. He says most of the hindus dont study hinduism so they even dont know (like many muslim dont know what islam is)
I really admire how they choose to be vegetarian. I could not get that hug a hindoo blog though. What does that mean :)
