I firmly believe that such ghosts

from our ugly past should be exorcised. Dr. Rastogi should be immediately removed from the position he holds and a case should be initiated against him for murder. Even if such a case might fall thru`(due to antiquity of the crime), it will create enough controversy and pressure on the govt. which would make them avoid installing such persons of doubtful repute in such sensitive positions. The newspapers and concerned citizens must raise a huge storm over this affair. This report gives credence to the general perception that the BJP has a hidden agenda in capturing power and that even if it is playing the good boy right now it and its idealogical partners are busy poisoning our education system.

What concerns me particularly is that Dr. Rastogi had the audacity to confess to such a henious crime in an autobiography. Despite this, he is still roaming free and not only that he is also ``rewarded`` with high posts by the RSS cronies. By fearlessly publishing his book

he has thumbed his fist on whatever we stand for and has thrown a challenge to all law abiding and secular minded citizens of India.

I would like to know the Indian views on this. Also, i would also like to ask pakistanis what they would have done when faced with such a situation.

is what should be done about this? One must keep in mind that the newspaper in question is of doubtful reputation given to sensationalism and is also known to print fantastic and unsubstantiated stories. But just for this discussion assume that the following is true.



Joshi makes killer of Muslim woman selector

New Delhi: A �self confessed murderer� has been appointed as the President�s nominee to oversee

selection of around 60 professors and readers in the National Council for Educational Research and

Training by the Human Resource Development Ministry, headed by Murli Manohar Joshi.

Dr K G Rastogi, who has already sat as an observor in the interview board, in his autobiographical

account Aap Beeti confesses that he killed a woman in a Muslim locality in between Roorkie and

Haridwar during the Hindu � Muslim riots that broke our following the partition of India in 1947.

The autobiography, which has been dedicated to the RSS, in the chapter titled Pracharak Ka Jeevan

(His life as a preacher) contains a detailed account of how he killed a woman. �We along with 250

people which included goons from Roorkie attacked the Muslim locality �Puran Kaliyar � following

information that they were armed,� he writes.

�A strange incident happened in the locality � the attackers (read Hindus) started fighting with each

other over a beautiful woman found in one house where killing was going on. The attackers forgot their

mission and started claiming the woman. I threatened them and then a solution came to my mind, I shot

her dead,� he says.

The foreword of the book has been written by RSS joint general secretary K S Sudershan. Rastogi in

the chapter titled Professor Ho Hi Gya explains how he lobbied for the post of professor in 1976. �There

were two candidates for the post of professor of Hindi in the department of Social Sciences and

Humanity. The other candidate was behind me in educational qualification but ahead of me in lobbying,�

he writes.

�There were two experts, the NCERT�s chief and one representative of the education minister in the

selection panel. The minister�s nominee � the position that he today occupies � was known to him as

he had remained his teacher in the past,� he writes.

�The minister�s nominee asked me for a blank check which he wanted to give to one of the experts,� he

says. �I tried to contact the expert but the entire exercise was of no use as the other candidate had

already contacted the expert,� he adds.
