Why Flag March in India by the Indian Government???

History of Flag March is unknown but the British as colonial masters used this act to send message to the public in the domain of concern that British with Union Jack are still the masters of the territory.

They did this more so during and after the 1857 Uprising. It was the time when mode of communication was nothing but telegraph. Nobody knew as to who ruled the territory on a given day as conquests and reconquest was the order of the day.

Even after the invention of telephone the use of flag march continued as the minute2minute information is not available to the public and the Indian Subcontinet was infested with hundreds of kings/queens and wild-eyed satraps & zamindars who are ready to declare independence and declare themselves as kings. IN THAT CONTEXT FLAG MARCH IS THE EFFECTIVE METHOD OF REASSERTING THEIR AUTHORITY BY BRITISH BY DOING FLAG MARCH.

Army to stage flag march in Kolkata


Now:

Why flag march, which is nothing but an outdated ritual for contemporary India where there's no need to assert to the public that Indian Government still rules Kolkata (Calcutta)/Bengal?

Declaring that army is in control is OK but flag march is way too an outdated concept to be used for the 'fully informed' contemporary India(ns).
