To Salim And Thinking storm

True one can't force/demand others to be respectful to one's religious sentiments or any other beliefs, but please!! Do not urge others also to leave their decency, sanity and kindness in the name of so called 'freedom of expression'. After all what is more important to you, to hurt, to be cruel, to humiliate, to disgrace and to exploit other humans or to show some civility to make this world a better place?
By the way I too condemn the abhoring reaction that few Muslims of Khartoom displayed. Actually one should completely abolish this law of 'Blasphemy' from the face of earth is what I think. In doing so the people will learn to be more tolerant. Then they wont be exploited by some malacious cleriks/politicians. Gradually man will understand that whatever any one say or do which is in any way disgraceful or hurtful to one's sacred beliefs, is solely his 'flight of imagination'and in no way could bring disgrace upon the divine holy, prestigious and honorable Prophets, freedom fighters, reformers, philosphers, leaders or philanthropists. They will learn that the best way to show their anger and contempt is by being brave;by being more kind, more graceful, more respectful to those who are ignorant and unkind towards other's feelings. Because those who are angry, brutal and violent are the one's in most pain.

zeemax,

Note: I am saying that the "blasphemy laws" should be changed.

No sir, you are the hypocrite who talks about going to brothels and who says "women are no better than dogs" and then tries to talk about Islam.

... or even the Royal family of Britain for that matter.

You guys are just petty hypocrites.

Do you know for the penalty for insulting the King of Thailand?

Nikhat,

-Yes the blasphemy law should be abolished in the "sharia".

-I actually don't care about the kartoum thing...other than that Muslims continue to be the laughing stock of the world with such stupidities.

- I do not encourage (nor does Salim from what I read in his ilog) people to be offensive to the prophet etc. HOWEVER, I do encourage fellow muslims NOT to get offended at cartoons or teddy bears. BIG difference here (though subtle for some). Telling muslims not to get offended is not the same as giving others carte blanche to offend.

- zeemax: yes the holocoust denial laws are a fuking joke. I cannot believe that such laws are "okay" in democracys.

Nikhat Begum,

No need to fly off the handle. The Sudanese took into account the facts of the matter and gave her the very minimum sentence (15 days detention) under their law. A more likely and typical sentence would have been six months plus 80 lashes.

One has to respect the law of the land, so please do not belittle the Sudanese. If, however you want to protest against the blasphemy laws, that's quite another matter. However, in that case, you would also have to protest against the holocaust denial laws (which you would be faint to do being a bleeding heart liberal).

Regards

Nikhat
