The camel's jugular's under the knife
The camel's jugular's
under the knife,
his legs bound to a tree
near the camping bedouin.
Its grunts echo in the desert.
It struggles, empties its
bladder and rectum,
dark red blood drips from its
long neck to be savored later
while they pray their
God for kosher blessings.
The star's visible near the moon
where God lives in heavens.
Its the end of the yearly fasting,
painfully slow butchering a camel
and eating its flesh in celebration,
with God's approval and blessings.
