I was Quite amused and shoCKED by Mr.Salim's comments. There is no doubt that his views are similar to those of Jewish settlers/colonizers in Palestenian territories. Sindhis have suffered a most terrible loss with the death of Benazir. They have been suffering greatly for the last 5 years when all power was handed over to MQM,a party representing Urban Sind's urduspeakers who are in a clear minority in Sind. All the plum ministries in Sind Cabinet were handed over to MQM and Sindhis were denied effective political power in their own province, what to talk about Islamabad. Mr Salim on the other hand would justify the violence unleased by MQM on civilians when its militant wing was being targeted by PPP in 1993-96 but says that the violence unleased by ppp workers after death of BB is an eyesore and bad. Had ppp been allowed to form a government in sin in 2002 , sindhi anger would not have reached such a peak.
I have met scores of urduspeakers who were truly sad over death of bb but i have also met quite a few urduspeakers who were not at all effected by her death.
For last 8 years urduspeakers have held total power in pakistan. They have denied rest of the communities in pakistan to choose their leaders . nows its time fir the urduspeakers to peacefully give up power .
As for my punjabi brethern and pakhtun brothers , let me appeal to them to vote for ppp. they have to do this if they have save pakistan . They can no longer allow the marginalization of sindis in sind by urduspeakers at the hands of a mohajir dominated military.
If mohajirs give up power peacefully and allow ppp to form a govt in sind, pakistanis will forget what they did during last 8 years. but if they insist on holding power than i am afraid the ethinic disturbance will explode and the worst sufferers will be urduspeakers.
