Another day to figure out what to buy as a gift. There must be some new ideas? And what is the cost for your expression of love these days, well the average male spends more than the average female. And the best ideas are still flowers and candy. My question is can we move on to a new tradition? Instead of the commercial holiday, this could be called procreation day! A mandated holiday by the government for all lovers who are too busy with work, kids, aging parents and other commitments. We could call it family day, like they have it in some parts of Canada. After all why must our expression of love involve credit cards or loan sharks. I hear that Valentines day is as big as mother's day for some businesses.
What is the history behind this phenomenon? The Sociobiology is simple enough; man convinces woman that there is something called "Love" and not only that the more difficult part is to convince the unwilling victim that she is not only worthy of this love but that we are talking about true love the one that lasts. And finally the expensive gifts will symbolize, authenticate, validate and quantify the amount of love. The amazing part is not that men come up with such a fraud, but that women even though they are the more intelligent gender seem to want to accept this notion as true and demand more, as time goes on. The appropriate phrase being "you don't love me like you used too"
