Changing of the guards!

Predictions for the future !

1. ANP will be routed by the mullahs again in seven years

2. There will be another martial law in seven years after another inept corrupt unpopular democracy and tahmed chachoo will be dancing on the streets and distributing mithai and hamid m will be wearing a big "i told you so t shirt" .

3. Karachi will still be ruled by the MQM in another seven hundred years but they will not be saying muhajir or muttahaida or even urdu speaking then because they will all have as much nonbhaiyya DNA as bhaiyya. They will likely still be violent and perhaps also do daily pooja to the picture of altaf bhai angrezi whose pictures will get lighter with the passage of time and maybe he will also develop freckles.

I am glad the elections were nonviolent and the hithertoe impotent rage of the paksitani people against Musharaff has had its day.

I am also glad that for the time being at least pukhtoons gave the sarkari mullahs a big up yours and maybe in this transient euphoria, while thinking 'yes we can" someone will stick the long arm of the law up the posterior canal of the guy who slapped the women in the womans voting post and started shooting in the air to scare off the poor 5 pukhtoon women who actually showed up to vote.

So we are back to being ruled by outright criminals like zardari and altaph and petty theives like Ganja Sharif whose three strands of hair have as much credibility than he does. But like any 15 year old Obama supporter high on mary J i actually feel happy ....for no good reason at all. Maybe because the absence of violence is in itself a hard to belive victory.

Mush is dead, General Kiyani Zindabad! Insha-allah , may you prove willing and able to yet again save pakistanis from themselves!

But the ANP pretend victory really does make me feel good. I would have voted ANP out of solidarity this election had i been in karachi. For the same reason i donated to the Ron Paul, save the tigers and the rain forests and the american indian preserves. Not because i think the tigers will actually make it, but because i want to hope that they will. And that my 20 dollars will go down in history as the thing that made it all happen

Thanks ISafe ill look for that interview. Yes the immediate future seems politically mullah free for now, but it only takes an incompetent corrupt government to bring them back, so heres to hoping that the future isnt going to look like the past.

I really hope ANP-MQM bhai bhai thing takes off that would be phenomenal.

Clifton,
Did you watch Wali Khan's interview with Kamran Khan? It was a total rebuff of the Jihadis, very heart-warming.
I don't think the Mullahs can win an election anywhere for the next 20 years. Proof: what their supporters are saying here on this site. They're saying 'they don't believe in elections anymore'! Why should they knowing they would lose.
But the rumor mill has it that ANP and MQM may burry the hatchets of the past. It looks like anything is possible.
