I scoff at things non-serious and take work seriously. Too seriously, they say. But issues ‘are’ serious. Jokes, sarcasm – na-aan! My work has NO room for light hearted-ness. Three years & serious projects. Projects I’m proud off and not – just projects taken seriously & delivered with the same spirit.
‘You are too funny’ they say, again & again, ‘ not like your scripts’
‘Where do you get these quips from, why cant I think of them?’
Boss hands me a project that opposes seriousness – a script that COMMANDS a light tone.
First hilarious script of my whole professional life – the only one that has brought me this many emails, this many phone calls.
Have I been taking it all wrong so far?
