A translation ...

A lot of water have passed unde the bridge since Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was deposed back in 2007. The subsequent lawyers' movement for the restoration of the then chief justice which was termed unprecedented in the history of Pakistan, has stormed many a weathers to stick to their demand. Their movement became somewhat pretentious when some of the quarters in the lawyers' movement tried to take law and order into their hands and resorted to violent acts. But all in all it has been a forceful movement where the lawyers' fraternity has exhibited a unique struggle against the status quo.
One of my acquaintances, a very good pushto and urdu poet who happens to be a staunch supporter of the lawyers movement persuaded me to try and translate one of his tributed poems to the lawyers of Pakistan.
Here it is:

"Qami Asasa" by Rahim Khan Majrooh
Translated by Aadil Omer

Thank you my Lord!
That even in todays world
there are present, men of such honor
and such dignity
that they will relinquish
thrown and crowns
of all the worldly kingdoms
heeding to the voice
of their conscience; an able adviser.
They will readily ditch
a brazen and unprincipled life
to take that of an exalted
and honorable one
in each of their steps.
They will accept the outcome
of their stance; even if it is
to drink a cup of hemlock
and they will accept a thorny life;
they will accept gallows.
They; the outstanding doers
and the hawk like characters
will never entwine their hands
in the hands of a Yazid,
and will never bow their heads
in front of the evil.
They will never accept
the doctrine of nessacity
and they won't own
a philosophy of false rationale.
On every front of cruelty
they will perform the deeds of Hurr.
They; the supporters of truth
They; the dignified
They; the staunch followers of Hussain
In the ideology of Mansoor,
They're praised the world over.
Standing firm on their vision and belief,
they are proven right
on the criteria of principles
They are a cause for us to be proud
and they are adored by all
They are our national assets
the precious assets
in fact they are our real assets,
whose single resentment
contains lots of lessons;
and each of the lessons
holds secrets of life.
They are the symbols; the upholders
of the constitution
They; the conspicuously courageous
and the holders of glory
are worthy of rose petals to be
sprinkled upon,
and they are worthy of our salutations

We will rather sprinkle our hearts,
gladly in their way; instead of flowers
