Twelfth May!

Posted: May 12, 2008 Mon 02:36 am     Views: 187    Interacts: 3

A year has passed. On the same date of May the 12th, 2007, we saw our ecnonomical lifeline, the city of Karachi being bathed in the blood. On this very day the citizens of Karachi witnessed a mayhem of their lives. Bunches of organised criminals were unleashed to horrify and brutalize the innocent citizens on a day when the peaceful activists for the restoration of judiciary were about to touch into the city. The massacre carried out on 12th may was unprecedented in the recent history of the unfortunate city. Around 40 inncoent people were killed and hundreds were left injured by the armed goons sponsored by the establishment.
As always, the events weren't investigated by governmental authorities and the perpetrators were left untouched. Rather masses were advised to be quite and concentrate on a better tomorrow, courtesy the acts of reconcilation on part of the government. The efforts of reconcilations in fact were tactics to legitimize the illegitemate government of Pervez Musharraf and to gain political strength ahead of the next general elections.
A lot has happened since then to weaken our already fragile political system along with the belief of the masses for the betterment. Benazir's murder, the subsequent chaos around the country, the general elections and a new coalition government which was percieved a a current of fresh air but which is fast heading towards an obvious failure courtesy the indulgence of establishment along with the hypocricy of our political leaders.
And now we're witnessing May the 12th 2008, with a fear of going into another void; with the failure of London negotiations between the coalition partners and the lawyers boiling to their hearts to start all over again for an issue our politician failed to resolve. Let's hope for the things to improve because only hopes are all we have!
