Request to AKCheema Sahib to recondier his comments regarding Shias

AKCheema #2 {"... I have always maintained (on record here on Chowk) that the 'Shias' are farther removed from 'mainstream' muslim mythology than the Ahmadis. With their 12 or 7 Imams (Hazir and Ghaib!!), denial of the first 40-50 years of Islamic history etc, cannot be regarded as part of Islam as we know it. Yet, again for political reasons, they ARE included and Ahmadis aren't; doesn't sound fair somehow."}

AKCheema Sahib,
While I have no personal issue with you, this particular post by you betrays your lack of knowledge about Islam and perhaps exposes your divisive intentions.

Being a Shia with a Sunni father and a Sunni wife, I am familiar with BOTH sides of the fence. I think that you will be pleased to learn that many Sunnis, especially the Hanafis, who predominate the Muslim presence in Turkey, India and Pakistan, regard the Imams as religious leaders. Imams Hussan, Hussein, Zainul Abidin, Jaffer Al Saadiq, Musa, and Mahdi are very much revered by many Sunnis.

As to your reference about denial of 40-50 years of Islamic history, you fail to make yourself abundantly clear. I hope you agree that most Sunnis would be supportive of Imam Ali (RA) in his stuggles against Muawiyah, the Governor of Syria and almost all Sunnis are on the side of Imam Hussein (RA) against the tyrant Caliph Yazid.

Please reconsider your post and the conclusion you derived. Thanks.

and so on; the Imams provide spiritual guidance to the Ummah and the theme at times can be quite progressive in modern terms by a process of 're-evaluation'. Ismailis, an off-shoot of mainstream shias, differ and break off down the list of Imams; they don't believe, for example, in ritual prayes/fasting amongst other things. Even their prayer halls are referred to as 'jamaat khanas' rather than 'masjid'.

Like I said before, if someone comes up to me and introduces himself as muslim, I'd accept them as such. Given that MAJ, the father of the nation, is from the Ismaili sect, becomes even more complicated.

I have never claimed authority on such matters; we have a list of eminent theologians/Islamic scholars right here on chowk; some names that spring to mind are Tahir Gul Hasan, Urstruly sahib, Zeemax and perhaps Echoboon sahib too (although I haven't had much interactions with him myself).

Why don't we put this matter to this eminent court of scholars and get their views so we can move forward.

Many thanks.

Selim mian,

I don't have more than a few minutes; I just saw your distress which is totally understandable.

As for me, I have made it clear earlier in the same post as to my POV on the whole thing.

If someone comes to me and says they are muslims, that is sufficient for me to accept them as such.

I do think Shias are muslims, no less than their sunni counterparts, if that is what they firmly believe; at the end of the day, it matters less what I think and more what people who 'decide' on matters of such importance think....please don't start about the 'personal faith' and mullah hijacking cliches; I am referring to the reality on the ground here.

Hamza sahib, I apologise for causing you some distress; 'senile einstein' eh! I don't think I am worthy enough to be associated with such a great name. As for my senility, if a 36 years old is senile in your book, so be it; again, it matters less what I think here.

Sattar2 #64 {"Both sects have utmost respect for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh); there is no question about it … none at all … no way.

What Kulharee says does not necessarily reflect Ahmadi-Muslim views. Just like zee or Urstruly supporting suicide bombings or killing apostates does not necessarily reflect Islamic teachings.

+++

If because of Kulharee’s vulgarity you think you have the right to prevent Ahmadis from considering themselves Muslims, then I am afraid the bigger problem lies with you."}

Sattar Sahib,
Thanks for clarifying that. So, it's obvious that Kulharee is behaving contrary to Qadiani teachings in disrespecting Our Holy Prophet (PBUH) and enthusiastically supporting profane Hindus who do the same.

Forgive me, sir, but I can only judge your religion by the most vocal proponent of that faith on Chowk - Kulharee. BTW, many Muslims have publicly criticized Urstruly and Zeemax for their extremist views. I have never read one word of your disagreement with Kulharee over his insults to Our Holy Prophet (PBUH). So, it must not be that important an issue with you guys - therefore, my remarks concerning the Qadiani religion.
