Since everything that is written on chowk gets dissected, torn, flung, broken, misunderstood, vomited on, flushed, taken out of context etc etc etc I decided its time a blog was written that will be shaped by the many voices that are always screaming to be heard, start blogging your voice!as the interacts grow the voices will sHAPE the topic and will hopeuflly define it and conclude it. (PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO ANOTHEr interact OR CRITICIZE ANYONE JUST WRITE WHAT YOU THINK, DARE TO SPEAK AND LEARN TO LISTEN)
But please remain focused the topic is: Is pakistan on the verge of a civil war/ revolt/ populism
I for one think that all the conditions are ripe for a revolution/ populism. People are just plain fed up of what the elite (gov) are upto, bread prices are going up, roshni sirf roshan khayali ki had tak reh gai hai and water problems are rampant. local crime is on the rise and the recent burning of dakus is a good example of how ppl are taking matters into their own hands. a group of ppl in def have also challenged the DHA authorities that will be not cooperate if DHA and the city govt continue to commercialize the area.. trafic problems are on the rise also.. such examples are dime a dozen all over the nation. thing is that ppl have taken this crap for too long and now they want to vent!
a brief history at all the revolts in the world reveal that the conditions which lead to them are very similar to whats happening in pak now, great rift between the elite and the poor, rising food prices, lack of security, frivolous rulers etc.
But the only worrying thing who will take the coconut from the monkeys and then who will be the coconut's next owner?

The pillars of the sate have been razed to the ground and there is not even a single institution that could establish itself during all those years. The people lack confidence in government and its functionaries and are no more afraid to take law in their own hands for their own security. The state and its powers and authorities are being openly challenged and threatened.
We have always been a divided nation rather a divided lot or a bunch of crowd. The smaller de-unifying groups have always easily penetrated and found big inroads in our society. The people have always proudly rallied round those destabilizing groups that have nurtured and propagated every negative sentiment ; be it the provincialism, sectism, regionalism or bradarism.
The global political scene has only aggravated the situation. Various international lobbies are actively pursuing their hidden agendas to maneuver the situation to their advantage making things even more precarious for us. The invisible hands pulling the strings of power have their own vested interests and malicious designs.
The economic downturn, adhocism and lack of planning have made the life of a common citizen miserable. Poverty, inflation, unemployment and underemployment have risen manifold. The life and property of the people are at stake and completely insecure. Education, healthcare and utilities are becoming increasing unaffordable. Traffic and pollution problems continue to hound the masses. The stress levels are increasing bringing the intolerance levels to a flashpoint. Middle class is crumbling intensifying the divide between the rich and the poor.
On the other hand the social and cultural divide is deepening. The stratification on the basis of “fundamentalism” and “enlightened moderation” instigated a virtual civil war. Many parts of the country are still inaccessible and the number of casualties and the suicidal and other fatal attacks are a witness to the fact.
At this point in time, I reckon, its more about the survival of the “coconut” than worrying about the monkeys. But if the status quo prevails and the vicious circle continues its roll then I am afraid there is less hope and more disaster to expect.
My earlier post on the subject is also relevant to the discussion.
