When Sparks fly; On love and used batteries

Posted: Jun 13, 2008 Fri 12:44 pm     Views: 224    Interacts: 4

Atif posted an ilog about getting letters...which reminded me of this story of love, batteries, and chitrol.

A cousin of mine, in true paindu fashion, and according to the norms of his mohallah, used to toss used batteries at his objects of desire.

Now originally I thought he probably threw the batteries from up close and asked the girl to catch it. It turns out, he used to lob them from his rooftop, and the poor unsuspecting girl would know nothing of the incoming projectile until it reached her.

Love is blind, love causes madness, and all that, right? Sure, but he had really good aim for a blind boy.

One day, as his shama, his laila was passing by on the street, this parwana, the majnoo, sought to communicate with her urgently. Again.

Having run out of the thin AAA batteries...he threw what was available..a 9 volt clunker. From up on the rooftop.

If flew.

It connected.

There were sparks.

And the girl immediately limped to his house and launched a formal complaint.

The chitrol my cousin got that day from his older brother...was nuclear :)

Needless to say, he stopped stockpiling used batteries from that day forward.
