Gillani sahib and his infinite wisdom

Posted: Aug 7, 2008 Thu 04:07 am     Views: 379    Interacts: 4

This is priceless. The Friday Times reported this in their current issue and i thought it should be shared with everyone. PM Gillani is definitely turning into Dubya part 2.

Gillani sahib, in his infinite wisdom, when speaking to the press in Washington said that the majority of Pakistanis do not support terrorism and extremism. Right.

He then went on to say that there were only a few 'handpicked' militants in Pakistan. Wrong.

He probably meant to say that there are only a 'handful' of militants in Pakistan.

Tazeen Yaar, I think the sense of shame is just an overblown concept. Why should Pakistanis be embarrassed about what our PM says in the White House? I have never met an Italian who is embarrassed because of Berlusconi sticking his foot in his mouth at least once a month. Gillani’s intellect is no reflection on Pakistanis’ and it is still much preferable than to be represented by a sweet tongues dictator.

Kulharee,

I dont think he would be very good at Punjabi as his mother tongue is Siraeki, not Punjabi and he has made a total fool out of himself when he was reading a written speech in Urdu during his first national address to the nation.

I am all for him to speak Siraeki in White house which i think is beautiful and melodic language, but i am sure he would not be coherent in that either. problem is not the language, it is the sheer lack of intellect that is causing us all shame

I dont think the article was meant to take a cheap shot at our affectionately elected PM. We are all aware of Pakistans literacy rate but that does not excuse the PM of a country, who is supposed to represent it worldwide, to make such errors in the White House!

Its true that everyone makes mistakes, but the least Gilani can do is learn from his. He doesnt exactly have the reputation for putting alot of effort rehearsing his speeches. The people who heard his first address to the nation will know what I am talking about!

I find is quite cheap and despicable that the press and the entire pseudo-intellectual garbage of Pakistan is trying to score points on poor Gillani’s account. What the freck does one expect from a PM elected in a country where adult literacy rate is barely around 30%, and no electricity to speak of? They expect our PM to be as articulate as Professor Antony Flew? Not gonna happen.

If Hu Jintao and Ahmadinejad can speak to reporters in their tongues through an interpreter, Gillani should be accorded the same benefit. Punjabi in the White House.
