Ease My Task

Posted: Sep 10, 2008 Wed 01:48 pm     Views: 247    Interacts: 6

"O Providence Divine, O my Lord!

Open up my chest and let it expand

And make it easy to carry my task

And untie my tongue’s entangled knots

So that my talk they may understand."

Quran: 20: 25 – 28
_Rendition by Mutaal Mooquin

Context of the Prayer:

Moses has fled from the hounding Egypt
And with his kin was wandering in deserts
Whence he saw a fire at Mount
He went to fetch it for them
There, in valley of Tuwa, he heard
Voice of Allah, Lord of the worlds
There, God ordained Moses’ his task
And gave him some signs to make him strong
And asked him to tell Pharaoh the truth of Allah,
Moses felt this was an enormous task
He felt weak, and thus prayed to Allah."
