Kaal Bhayya - Terrorism, partition, minorities, and Liaqaut/Nehru Pact

Posted: Nov 7, 2008 Fri 09:05 am     Views: 428    Interacts: 2

{"The answer to secular Hindus' crimes is NOT to deliberate plan and kill Muslims, or to suppor the killers of Muslims, in a countermove, Thakre ji. ...
Terrorism is against everything Hinduism stands for. It will create a society we do not want. So regretting the loss of lives is not enough. We need to proactively keep ourselves from following others in a direction that is inherently nonHindu and unIndian. It won't do us any good, either in this world or in the other."} (T)

Kaal Bhayya,
Beautiful words and impeccable logic, my friend. Terrorism is against Hinduism, against Islam, and against both Christianity and Judaism. Whether it is the terrorism of the Tally Ban and Al Kayda, the butchery of Modi and Thackeray, the cruelty of the Spanish Inquisition, or the bombings perpetrated by the Irgun and Stern gang, this kind of massive violence is nothing to be proud of - regardless of the "lofty" aims of the killers. I agree with you, my compassionate friend.

Now to the matter of Liaquat-Nehru pact, the treatment of minorities, and the whole issue of partition. As most of you know, I believe that partition itself was a stupid idea for Hindustan - my affectionate term for undivided India or Akhand Bharat. Once being successful, thanks to the efforts of Lord Louis, in forcing Mr. Jinnah to accept an incomplete and hasty partition, the Congress quickly pulled a fast one on the Muslims. By insisting on the partition of Punjab, Bengal, and Assam, the Hindus and the British guaranteed a "moth eaten," but homogenous, at least religiously speaking, Pakistan.

The most rational approach would have been to keep India united and avoid partition at all costs. If partition was a must, then there should not have been a partition of the Muslim-majority provinces. This would have lessened the concerns of the huge minority of Hindus in the larger Pakistan and there would have been very little migration out of Punjab, Delhi, and Bengal. The Sikhs would have preserved their great land holdings in West Punjab and Muslims would not have moved out of Delhi and East Punjab and Lahore would continue to be a religiously cosmopolitan city. There would have been enough Hindus/Sikhs in Pakistan and enough Muslims in India to preclude the hostility that followed the unfortunate divorce.

If partition of the Muslim majority provinces was a must, then that partition should have also applied to the Hindu majority provinces of UP, Bihar, CP, and other areas such as Kerala and Bombay. This gerrymandering would have resulted in a complete exchange of populations and hopefully very little ensuing violence and massacres.

The Liaquat-Nehru pact was meant to placate the continuing violence against Muslims in East Punjab, Bihar, and Delhi and against Hindus in East Bengal. While the Indians and Pakistanis were fighting over the meager spoils, the British left India in a rapid, relatively cheap, and somewhat honorable manner.

Bakwas hai. Muslim majority provinces were partitioned only in areas that were contiguous to India. It is not as if Hindu majority islands were created out of Muslim majority areas. If Muslim bantustans were to be created in India, than Hindu Bantustans should have been created in Pakistan as well, right down to the village level. Since that is not practical, it is better to divide by provinces, and then by contiguous aras. Kashmir valley should have gone to Pakistan, Jammu and Ladakh to India, with full transfer of population. Same thing in Bengal.

my dear softy softy innocent friend,
if everything was happening as per Islam then the whole world can be peacefully converted to Islam and there would have been no violence at all. But as you know Islam is not even 1/4th of humanity. You very softly ignored one thing in your humbleness to stick to Hindu-muslim complete partition, that Taliban fought with muslims to gain control over them. That in Iran Shah was muslim who was overthrown by muslims. that Iran/Iraq war was between muslims.

The second thing you softly ignore is that till now India has just started producing Hindu terrorists and so far number of people killed in all their riots since Independence of India is much less compared to what muslims or Pakistanis have have killed. You can check your Army's claims.

Such soft ideas and hard-core humbleness to see things in one direction, like getting all the land possible for Islam, or dividing whole of India, is good only when you do not care what is good or bad.

This hindu muslim divide and tension that you see in India is what will bring people to better ideas and better living. If they would have done what you wish, you would have had a few more Pakistan and Bangladeshes everywhere in south Asia, with no chance of change. And you must be knowing how peaceful was exchange of Hindus and Muslims between India and Pakistan.

If all you want is Islam then you will get Islam, but it will be what it is not what you tell everybody.
