Remembrance Day - a first for me.

Posted: Nov 9, 2008 Sun 07:14 am     Views: 268    Interacts: 2

Attended my first ever Remembrance Day Parade and Service this morning at my town's war memorial. Up to now I'd always wondered why should one only honour the dead of the armed services and not have at least equivalent occasions to remember the many more dead and injured innocent civilians of past and present conflicts. I'd always even refused to wear a poppy for that reason. But I suppose one mellows with age. Must confess I did find the experience deeply moving - despite feeling a degree of unease at hearing exclusively Christian readings, prayers and hymns. Nevertheless, pleased that I went.

death is a great equalizer....
and an amazing thing.... more amazing than birth... because there you feel a life is coming out of another.... but in case of death it seems to go nowhere:-)
