Let the ungodly …

Posted: Feb 23, 2009 Mon 05:50 am     Views: 221

This morning when (with anguish in my heart due to reasons omitted to mention here) I opened the Quran to read, the page that I was blessed to see was of Surah Al Tariq (86). The beauty and relevance of the words inspired me to render it in English in my own way to share the sentiments with all. Here it is:

By the sky and by that which visits the night;
What can tell you of that visiting light!
It is the star that delight imparts,
Over every soul a guarding watch.

So let man think what he is created of;
He is created of an emitted drop
From between the loins and pelvic arc.
And, he would be brought back (to life)
On a day when all will lay bare to sight
And unaided waits and no help arrives.

And behold the sky that returns,
And the earth that opens,
And this Word that demarks.
This is not a thing for laughs.
And they have but schemes to pursue,
And I make the plots too.
So let the ungodly have their pick,
Let them have respite for a bit.
