reza bhai has a point about hotels!

Indeed, after having stayed in hotels in china, middle east and east asia, the "hotels" like Marriotts and Hiltons in US feel like fukking motels. If i find myself in a situation where I have no option but to stay at motels like Marriott and Hilton, I take a few precautionary steps:

- I ask about upgrade options. I insist on a corner room so I can avoid that disgusting feeling of being surrounded by middle aged salesmen and traveling coders

- I immediately remove the top cover off the bed and throw it in a corner. This piece of bedding is rarely washed and most likely carries dried up bodily excretions from the making of a porn movie a few weeks back

- I go to the nearest pharmacy and get myself some basic toiletries. Now this may not be an issue with the likes of MNI-485 for whom shower soap can be used as shaving foam or shaving foam can be used as shower soap or aftershave can be used as underarm deodorant or underarm deodorant can be used as aftershave (gosh! there should be a required test for acceptable social behavior that should be administered before approving I-485s). But for the more civilized people, these are important matters and the cheapass generic soaps with "spa" written on them just dont cut.

- I never drink coffee in the mugs provided in the room. For all you know, these mugs have been used as a lota by a fukking madrasi staying there the previous night!

- Never wear the hotel provided "gown". better to walk naked in the room than to risk developing a skin rash!

- Some hotels guilt you into using same towels everyday at the pretext of "saving the environment". In reality they are just trying to cut their washing costs. Make sure you demand freshly clean towels every day and advise the hotel staff instead into gutting their building to save the environment and aesthetics of the surroundings

- I turn down the "turn down" service! There is no value in this stupid chore that the motels like marriott perform to fool customers into believing that this is an element of "luxury". To accept this service is to insult your own discerning sensibilities. You want to experience true luxury, stay at Kempinski or in Oriental or in Peninsula or in Chedi or in Dusit Thani. Now THATS luxury!

Sometimes while traveling for work I end up having to stay at some cheapass shit hotel because there isn't a better one close by .. such as Hiltons, Loews, Marriott etc.

+ The water pressure in the shower is fucked up bc the cheap bastards are trying to save money
+ The shampoo and soap is cheap quality and smells nasty (sometimes they write "spa" on it to pretend it is not crap)
+ There is no way to make the room completely dark for sleeping bc the drapes are cheap/thin ones
+ Room service, if you need it, is a disaster - they even fuck up the salad by sending stale lettuce with way too much dressing on it
