Happy Birthday America. July 4th is the date for the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Another significance of July 4th is that on this day in 1187, Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi (SALADIN) defeated the Crusader knights and their army of Jerusalem at the Horns of Hattin. This devastating defeat of the Crusaders led to the surrender of Jerusalem shortly thereafter.
Congratulations to all freedom loving people on this happy occasion.

Good post, but I hope you know that July 4 did not bring freedom for African Americans. And it proved to be a harbinger of genocide for the native American tribes with the westward expansion of US.
